Residential Architecture

J. Thomas Kaiser is a California registered architect who specializes in all types of residential architecture, from remodels to restoration to new construction.  Projects are located in neighborhoods from La Canada to Pacific Palisades.

J. Thomas Kaiser is a California Registered Architect who specializes in residential remodels in older, upscale sections of Los Angeles, ranging from La Canada to Toluca Lake to Santa Monica to Pacific Palisades. Approximately a third of these remodels turn into new homes because the remodeling is so extensive and the new structural requirements are so stringent. Stylistically, these homes interpret period styles such as Craftsman, Spanish, Mid-Century Modern and traditional East Coast styles. Clients are almost always end users with very few development type projects.

Tom approaches architecture from a construction background, having worked for ten years for Alan Parker Construction, a firm in Sherman Oaks that specialized in upper end design/build residential projects. Prior to that Tom worked in Welton Becket’s business development division for four years. Before moving to California, he worked with an Austin firm that developed, designed and constructed high end housing in the Texas Hill Country. Tom graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Master’s in Architecture.

Services provided include traditional architectural drawings as well as construction management. Most projects involve full services all the way through interior design details. By focusing on a few clients through the entire building process, clients are generally much more satisfied with their design and construction experience. Three of his projects in the Los Angeles area have received Honor Awards from the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
